Treasures of the World’s Cultures is the second in a series of exhibitions, organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, in collaboration with the British Museum, in preparation for the launch of the Zayed National Museum at the Saadiyat Cultural District.

Bringing life to elements of human history dating back 2 million years, the exhibition addresses some universal themes, such as leadership, heritage and faith, that will also be found in the Zayed National Museum where the galleries will tell the story of the region’s history and the unification of the United Arab Emirates through the life of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, father of the nation and continual source of inspiration.

In collaboration with the British Museum and featuring loans from Al Ain National Museum, Sharjah Archaeology Museum and the private collection of HE Abdulrahem Al Sayed Al Hashemi, Treasures of the World’s Cultures leads us to the broad horizon of world heritage through over 250 exceptional objects, providing a universal context for the UAE and the Middle East. The exhibition places us in a unique position, to be able to look back on the threads of existence and watch the tapestry of world heritage be brought to life by each precious object.  As Abu Dhabi develops a live canvas for global culture through the development of the world’s most important cultural institutions, it is essential to remember that the dialogue of civilisations been and gone is the context for the present. Through objects such as those in Treasures of the World’s Cultures, the Zayed National Museum will lead us to the wisdom and knowledge that will inspire and equip us on our journey into the future.
